A fascinating trip to the high-mountain open-air museum.
Lahij settlement was founded by Persians in the 5th
century. However, conducted archaeological researches suggest that people lived
here B.C.E. The locals speak a dialect, which belongs to the Iranian language
group. This dialect is spoken only in Lahij. The settlement has a peculiar
architecture extrinsic to other regions of Azerbaijan. Creativity of local
craftsmen and masters being famous for the production of copper chased dishes
and weapons at all times was known far beyond Azerbaijan. According to legend,
well-known Monomakh's Cap was made in Lahij. Today Lahij attracts many tourists
