The national airline of Azerbaijan refused to buy Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft.
This was reported by 1news.az at Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC.
"We informed Boeing Corporation about termination of the contract for the purchase of a total of 10 passenger aircraft of Boeing 737 MAX-8,” said the company.
Azerbaijan Airlines also reported that negotiations are currently under way and the possibilities of purchasing passenger aircraft from other major manufacturers are being studied.
Note that in April 2017, the Azerbaijani airline Silk Way Airlines and Boeing Corporation signed a contract for the purchase of 10 Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft. The total value of the contract was about one billion dollars. Deliveries were to be made within three years.
Recall that on October 29, 2018 and March 10 of this year, two aircraft of this type crashed. A number of airlines announced a temporary suspension of the use of the Boeing 737 MAX-8 until the investigation of the incident was ascertained.
AZAL Airlines currently operates such aircraft as the Boeing 787, Boeing 767, Boeing 757, as well as the Airbus 340, Airbus 320, Airbus 319 and Embraer 190 aircraft.
